It was basically ripping to pieces and regrouping and becoming a peloton again.

Touch of chaos there.

And it was, but for Tadipo Gacha, Remco Evenepoel, Del Toro and Sextas, they were just cruising, just always getting themselves back into that sort of what would regroup into the peloton.

And so it's kind of hard to say, you just have the yellow jersey group that's tagged on the TV.

And so you refer to that as a peloton.

But it was just kind of bulging and kind of disappearing, then coming back again, then growing again.

So it was just groups going off the front of it, groups getting dropped, then coming back on.

But the yellow jersey was just staying there and the race was pivoting around it.

Again, because the climbers on a stage like this, they can absorb it much better.

And those Milan-San Remo style riders, those classic riders, this is a perfect day for them.

This is the sort of day where it's not a pure sprinter day, it's the sort of day where they can get amongst the race and race it as a one day.

So you have this really weird combination of the climbers who aren't on GC and the one day racers in groups together, which is not a recipe for success generally.

But what kept it going, the whole race going, was the green jersey competition and hanging on by the skin of the teeth, the sprinters,

to try and keep it together in their teams.

So there are these, again, we've seen it over and over again, where a separate competition ends up dictating the whole race.

And today, that was it, the green jersey.

And because Mads Pedersen is just such a monster.

He is ridiculous.

Because he'd missed that group.

It ended up being 19 riders up the road.
