So the gods were the agent of change and humans were corrupt or not corrupt or constructive or destructive.

And then if you go back to the 13th century, we began to see this observation that we did have patterned behavior, but it was more an observation of something.

Now, if you think about the way we think about ourselves in the early ancient world, the gods decided our fate.

In another part of the world later on, and, you know, as you think of modern Europe, fate decided our world.

It was written that this would be so.

So it wasn't the interference of a god.

It was just fate, a pathway that you were on that you couldn't change.

And Newtonian mechanics is very much a pathway you can't change.

It's a series of interactions that you can calculate and predict.

So the philosophy matched that.

And then now we live in a quantum world where we live in a world of possibilities and furthermore possibilities that the human brain can change.

Realities that our quantum brains, as Penrose's microtubules suggest, are actually engines of change for reality.

And my work is probably, and some of the work that's followed, is the beginning of the recognition that

We could change our fate by understanding how these unconscious patterns work.

And that is accompanied by a quantum mechanical world of infinite possibilities.

So we're moving into a different territory.

And if there's an inspiration, I don't know whether you remember the book Foundation of an Empire by Isaac Asimov.

And I've written quite a bit about this, but essentially it's about a scientist who predicts the mathematics of the fall of an empire.

And he tries to warn the empire.

And as the empire doesn't listen, then he tries to create coping mechanisms to speed up the period in the vacuum between organizational empires in the galaxy.
