Well, I'd love to end with the final poem in the book.
But before we do, I just wanted to ask a brief question to set it up because when we arrive at the end of the book, we realize it loops back to the beginning, which I feel like is wonderful when we are talking about linear time being white and here we are.

But the beginning is an epigraph of some racist lines by Gertrude Stein.
And the end is a poem that I think dismantles, engages with and dismantles those words in a way.

wanted to hear why you wanted to bookend the book with Gertrude Stein's words ultimately.
Yeah.
And also it's a white canonical poet.
So when we think about being thrown against the sharp white background from Zora Neale Hurston, it's like Magical Negro with the background of the white canon too.
it's a fantastic ending.
