How much am I worried about Adam Schiff specifically?
I don't know.
Not that much.
I think he's going to be okay, but it is important to send a message that you can't just go and do a campaign on political retaliation and revenge and retribution come into power and then expect to get away with all of it.
The idea of the preemptive pardon from Biden is saying you're not going to now do the revenge tour.
Trump has made it clear that he's coming after his enemies.
Joe Biden is trying to do what he sees as the right thing on his way out.
And the thing here that is very clear, there is no personal benefit to 80 something year old Biden to preemptively pardoning Adam Schiff.
If anything, Biden is just exposing himself to criticism.
So what do you all think?
I think a couple of things are going on.
It's so boring to say it, but we still have to wait to really get a sense of where this is going to shake out.
I think after we get through the conventions and people are really paying attention, political strategist Rachel Bidekofer says that Labor Day is when you're really going to start to see November reflected in the polling.
There's another aspect to this which is interesting, which is over time,
When you introduce the third party candidates, Jill Stein, Cornel West and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the degree to which introducing them hurts Joe Biden has been diminishing.
And you can actually find polls now where when you add the third party candidates, it's worse for Trump.
And this makes a lot of sense, both because of the way RFK is running.
But also because he's not actually going to be on the ballot, maybe almost anywhere.
And there are people who are showing up in the polling and supporting a third party candidate, not knowing in November they'll show up.
That person's name won't actually be on the ballot.
