The inflation problem isn't going away.
All this does in a theoretical, from a theoretical viewpoint, is add to demand, which will add to inflation, which of course leads to higher interest rates.
Yeah, and and you know, the policy itself will obviously have supporters and critics.
There's no doubt about that.
Um and there is logic to the policy in the sense that many Australians are struggling.
But there is a tension right across the board here where
You know, ordinary Australians are saying we need more money, and this is an example of giving them more money, bringing that investment forward to here and now.
But at the same time,
You know, the economy's just not strong enough to take it.
And when I say that, it it's it's that, you know, supply side, it's the productivity.
And look, it is a real tension.
We're not going to resolve it here and now.
You can see where the policy idea has come from, but where it'll land will depend on what most Australians view as as being in their interests.
Is it more cash now or is it understanding the pain that could result from it?
All things being equal, this policy
would expect to increase inflation.
Anything.
You know, y you've got you've got, you know, potentially a bubble on Wall Street, you've got the magnificent seven just sucking in enormous amounts of capital.
You know, private credit is booming, equity markets are booming, the central banks are trying to control inflation.
