I was able to quit work straight away when Beatrice was diagnosed and spent 24-7 with her.
Not every family in Ireland can do that.
Lots of families where both parents are working, they may have a dependent elderly person that they're minding, they may have a child that they're minding and so on.
And the treatment happens in St.
Vincent's, which is critically important because that's the centre of excellence.
But the checkups also happen there.
So one of the things we're doing with the outreach centre
is having a facility in Tullamore and in Portlaoise for the Midlands initially.
And then who knows, we can spread to the rest of the country where patients suffering from sarcomas can get checkups between treatments to make sure everything is working.
It'll make a massive difference.
Those little logistical things, they sound small, but the families are critically important.

We know that early diagnosis is critically important.
To your point, Mark, Beatrice was stage four when she was diagnosed and it had spread through many organs in her body.
If she had been diagnosed earlier, then she might still be with us.
you know, if the medicines allow that to happen.
So it's critically important that we build that awareness as a first stage.
The outreach centres to give support to those who currently have the cancer is critically important.
And then the research element is really important as well, you know.
