We're in the Gowana section of Brooklyn, not far from the Stonehouse, where the Maryland 400 uh defended the American troops against 32,000 plus British troops here who descended on New York Harbor about a month after the declaration of independence.

And uh this place uh tonight is gonna be commemorating the Maryland 400.

This uh American Legion Post was named after Michael Raleigh Jr.

He was KIA in World War II, I think in 1941, 1945, uh in Europe.

And I have with us uh the base commander here, the uh Legion commander, Christopher Hardy, a lieutenant colonel, uh retired Air Force, and I also have Patrick Hayo'Donnell with us, who will be making a speech tonight.

So uh

A very exciting night here, and this place should be crowded uh and in honor of this incredible battle, the first and largest battle of the American Revolutionary War.

Okay, what this means.

I don't know if we would uh you know be here and and getting uh so much history if it wasn't for Trump pushing America 250 the way he did.

I just wanted to say that because as a Long Islander, this is a forgotten history.

And George Washington crossing the East River in the fog, weather helped him.

And to get the nascent army of the revolutionary uh army, uh uh the American army, he may have saved the war.

And this

Is such a critical place here, not only with the British troops here, but the French helping us up all the way up the Hudson River with reconnaissance and the history and blocking and trying to prevent the British from choking off us from New England and everything.

So this is really significant, especially in anticipation of it's a confluence of events, the 25th anniversary where I lost my very good friend in rescue four, Peter Brennan.

Uh, you know.
