And what does that look like?

Granted, sometimes it went too far and it was a mass exodus from the church.

But I think the Me Too just really...

brought that to the head with an already happening conversation about sexual abuse as it has extended from slavery.

And so there's a book called Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome, I think, but it really highlights how as a culture and as a people group, we're still recovering from slavery.

And a lot of people think, oh, that was so long ago, but you have to think about

how trauma works.

If a parent experienced significant trauma, the indirect behaviors are going to be passed on to the children until those behaviors stop.

And so when you think about that same concept as it pertains to slavery,

that some of those patterns have had to stop as generations went on.

So we're still recovering from some of the impact of sexual abuse from slavery.

And then some of the risk factors of child abuse and sexual abuse are very high in black communities.

And so there's already historically lots of abuse happening.

And then here's this Me Too movement.

So I think we're wrestling.

with how all of that meets together and what accountability looks like, what grace might look like, what love looks like, what justice looks like.

And so I feel like it's just all intertwined in a really messy way.

And I don't know that we know what to do with it.

So many times we just go back quiet like it's been in the past.

Not enough.
