There was a tripling in the number of e-scooters that were seized or detained between 24 and 25.

And just in quarter one of this year so far, 754 e-scooters have been seized or detained.

So there is a real focus on it.

The legislation is in place.

We're seeing in the seizure numbers, the seizure and detention numbers, that Gardaí do feel empowered to pursue because the vast majority of those seizures and detentions arise from a pursuit situation.

Yes, they need to be

upskilled further.

We need to ensure that public safety, safety for the Gardaí, safety for the person being pursued is at the heart of what we're doing.

And it is up to the Gardaí Commissioner to schedule that training, which was allowed for two years ago.

Just to clarify, the Gardaí do have the right to pursue and as we know from the high number of seizures and detentions of e-scooters, that is actually happening.
