What they do need is some kind of backup at closer.

This is David Benard's last year before he heads for agency.

So they would like to do a little safeguard there to have them for next year look for bullpen help, even though their bullpen has been strong.

What they really need, of course, is some fix at shortstop.

And that comes back to the Anthony Volpe, Jose Caballero question.

Personally, I think they could kind of go tap into what we saw from Caballero earlier this season if they just gave him everyday playing time and didn't have this.

split where right now they're treating Volpe as the starting shortstop and Caballero as a utility guy who can move around the field it's just not working for them and there have of course they've been thoughts within the Yankees organization that they want to call up their top prospect George Lombard Jr.

you would hope right if you're a Yankees fan that he can adjust quickly to major league pitching being thrown in a highly packed pressure environment that's

in New York and nothing is a given there.

So it's really a long shot for that to be their help at shortstop, but they also would like a right-handed hitting catcher would be good.

Austin Wells has also had a really rough season and just right-handed hitter in the offense, I think could go a long way without judging Stanton right now.

Yeah, starting pitching, I mean, if we're talking, right, someone like Tarek Skubal is suddenly available, throw the Yankees in there, I think.

This is one of those moments, like part with your top prospects, kind of whatever it takes, especially if someone like a Jason Dominguez or a Spencer Jones who are major league ready but are sort of flawed, if that gets the deal done, right, they have to do it.

But I think outside of something really great showing up on their table, they look –

good at starting pitching, especially after what we saw from Freedy yesterday.

I mean, he looked like he did not miss a beat.

He was supposed to have another rehab assignment and he just did that against the Pirates and he looked phenomenal.

I think Cole too has looked really, really good up until you can see he starts to get a little tired at the end of innings.

That's where more bullpen help come into play, but

None of that will matter if the offense is not able to generate runs without Aaron Judge and Stanton.
