I had imagined we'd form an orderly queue and walk as one, but to my horror, we take turns.

Connor calls out to me, telling me to give the cow's head to one of the teenagers, inviting them into the ritual.
Not able to hear them over the chanting, and my own interior monologue.
I think they're telling me I've done something wrong.

Eventually, someone does extend the invitation to the teenagers, and they gamely go, donning the cow's head and walking through the fires.
They laugh and cheer and record it on their phones.
The boys lead but the girls go too.
When everyone has walked the cow's head is placed upon the right hand fire to burn.
The idea is to sit now around the fire singing some songs.
Connor invites the teenagers to join us.
To my surprise one of the boys is keen to sing and asks if we have a guitar.
A guitar appears.
