What I would be very much in favour of is, you know...
for example, as pine martins are moving in through the Liffey Valley and into somewhere like the Phoenix Park, carrying out studies on the pine martin population there, looking to see what kind of densities that they will live in there.
If you wanted to go as far as to hold an experiment, maybe supplementing the population there to see what works because it is somewhere that they've found naturally and there are good habitat corridors away if they chose that it wasn't for them.
So potentially somewhere, something like that,
in an area like the Phoenix Park, but like when you use the example of Stephen's Green, I would say no.
Yeah, it is indeed.
I'd also like to say like the team, like I know a lot of people professionally who've worked in grey squirrel control in Scotland.
And these are professional people who take great pride in ensuring that, you know, the squirrels that they're responsible for dispatching, you know, they do it in the least stressful way possible.
And, yeah, take a lot of pride in doing that job very well and certainly have no issue with any individual grey squirrel.
It's redressing the problem at an ecosystem level and it is necessary.

It hasn't been there long enough, but it is.
The grey squirrel is now widespread in northern Italy and it is expected to move into France and I think Switzerland quite soon.
So, yeah, it is an issue in Italy.
We just haven't really heard that much about it of late.
There isn't as far as I'm aware and I am a disease expert.
What I'd say is the squirrel pox virus burns through the red squirrel population really quickly so it devastates the local population and it kind of burns itself out and it needs grey squirrels to spread it so it doesn't it spreads from red to red locally
But it takes a grey squirrel moving through the landscape for the disease to move through the landscape, if that makes sense.
