Because some vehicles are bigger, they're higher, and that might be good for the people in those cars, but it might be more challenging for other road users that are in smaller vehicles or on motorbikes.
When you go to those, very sadly, those kind of, you know, very big crashes where there are multiple casualties, how does your brain or how do you and your colleagues triage that system?
You know, it's often said if the person who's screaming the most might necessarily need the most attention at that point.
And that shock and adrenaline, people can...
their situation can deteriorate quite quickly in those circumstances.
And obviously we have this notion that ambulances are there and they just need to get people straight to hospital.
But there's different types of paramedics.
The level of medical expertise at the scene now is really, really quite advanced.
What can you do for people typically at the scene?
Straight away.
Does that mean you can administer maybe heavy duty type drugs?
I don't know what the type will be, but you know that other scene that you might normally have to wait to go to a very controlled clinical setting?
I know yous are trained and yous receive support, but what is it like when you have to maybe do those really, really tougher things like cut people, you know, out of cars?
Like, I mean, you're human at the end of the day.
One of our listeners, Ger Fiona, said, listening to this kind man, I'm sitting in tears, remembering my road incident earlier this year when I was hit by a car, which led to a broken leg and head injury.
As I lay on the ground, very scared.
The sweetest sound was the sound of the sirens.
From the moment the paramedics and fire staff arrived, I just relaxed as I knew I was cocooned in safety and kindness.
