And if you don't stop the run, that's never stopped me from running the defense that I've been running over the last decade anyhow.
So I think that there's some really, I think there's a good opportunity for Trey Hendrickson to get as close to maximum earning potential while also being in a situation where
Even if it is a one-year deal, you're probably playing in the best scheme to highlight what you do best.
And maybe you can hit the market one more time and try to get paid again as you approach your age 35 season.
I think that might end up just being the best outcome, which, like we said earlier, it stinks for him.
Because after 35 sacks over two years, you would think you get to ride out the back end of your career earning somewhere in that range.
32 to 34 million per year range.
Like I said, I just don't think that that's happening, but I do think there will be a good opportunity for him to maximize what's left of his career in Washington.
So back to the comps conversation, I think he's a good player.
I actually think when I was looking at what kind of contract he might go fetch, it made it pretty clear to me that I just don't imagine Philadelphia will be able to retain him.
I just think that he is going to be priced a little bit beyond what Philadelphia will be comfortable with paying.
My comps on the lower end is probably somewhere between George Karloftis, which is like 22 per year, to Montez Sweat, who's about 24-ish per year.
I think you're probably right at that line now, where if you're Howie Roseman, you've really got to sit and think about whether or not you want to make that commitment over multiple years.
And I think that the biggest priority for Jalen Phillips will be
getting himself some multi-year commitment because this is a guy who has dealt with several serious injuries going back to his college days, right?
I think you want to take advantage of the market now while you're coming off of a good year playing for a playoff team.
You want to try to get something multi-year lockdown.
So with that in mind, the teams that I came up with were the Jets, the 49ers, and the Patriots.
Those are the three teams that I think have the best kind of alignment between needing a player like Phillips and where he might be able to go get three years on a deal from each of those teams.
I think I'm with you, right?
