no because there was still the chance to lessen the pit loss so yeah at one point I thought maybe they'll just keep going
And this is going to be a very quick VSC.
But then they're probably more able to judge whether there's any way in which they can still lessen the pit loss from the 24 seconds closer.
Because I think there was an 11 second difference between pitting under virtual or safety car and doing so under green flag.
If you can take some of that, I think you'd take it.
But yeah, it was very unlucky for Lando, definitely.
So I think you're
Plus, they already had some information about the hard tyre because of so many cars within the top 10 starting on those tyres.
And probably they realized that that was the tire to be on for most of the race.
So, yeah, I don't blame them for doing what they did.
It was just, as you say very well, a lose-lose situation and maybe luck evening out from the past.
Yeah, I think that's the main takeaway for McLaren from this race, that at the beginning of the weekend, it seemed like they were not really in the fight, also because of Lando's issues with the gearbox and losing track time.

Did
The other thing about McLaren I'd mention is it's two very different tales, because once again, Oscar has had a tough race, not the same kind of weekend as Lando.
He lost at the start with Colapinto, and then he carried that damage in the front wing that probably didn't help.
