Sometimes artifacts are found on the kind of commercial market, and those are regarded as suspect by scholars.

An artifact is valid when it comes straight out of the ground.

And typically what happens is a prominent scholar, in this case, we're talking about Eilat Mazar of Hebrew University in Jerusalem with a whole team of people.

I mean, this is not stuff that can be faked.

This is stuff that comes out of the ground.

It's immediately recorded.

It's photographed.

It's documented.

It is then published for other scholars to examine.

So the kind of evidence that I'm giving in this book is not sort of disputable evidence.

It is true that in archaeology there are sometimes disagreements.

Someone will say that a particular biblical site is over here.

Other people say it's over there.

I'm not getting into that kind of stuff.

I'm talking about stuff that is verified and corroborated by the techniques of modern archaeology and science that is attested to by secular archaeologists, Jews, and Christians alike.

Everybody agrees that this particular artifact is real.

There's no doubt about it.

Well, this is an absolutely key point, and I'll explain why it's a key point.

It's a key point because you have a biblical narrative, and I would say that as of now, over a period of about 150 years, there are maybe 700 or 800 artifacts that corroborate the Bible.

But skeptic Mike, your friend, your hypothetical friend would say, there's lots of stuff in the Bible that hasn't been proved.
