And I think what happened was there was a lot of things that I probably checked a lot of boxes that maybe Orm was looking for.
Um, one, you know, a community feel.
Um, I played here, my dad coached here, a lot of my friends and their kids go here.
And then I think the the one thing that that I've done really well with, not from just coaching high school basketball, but the thing that's shifted over the last 10 years is
the youth inside these communities.
At Mountain View, we s we started a a a club inside of our our Mountain View boundaries called The View.
And we had the second biggest youth club that was associated with the high school, um, almost 28 teams that I did with uh Jessica Milgate, the girls coach.
And so, you know, when when when you look at all those boxes that maybe that they were looking for of who's gonna bring
you know, a community field who has a little bit of experience, um, who who can run a youth program and build that up from a community standpoint.
You know, those were the things.
And who's passionate?
And you know, and I think they took a little gamble on me, just as Mountain View did two years ago.
And so but those guys who, you know, maybe didn't get the job, you know, I they'll land on their feet and some of 'em already have and and uh but I was I was extremely grateful that Orm decided to kinda go with me.
No, I i i it it's extremely hard.
And you know, I'll just tell you a quick story.
So
Twenty eight years ago when I was a freshman in high s uh sorry, a freshman over at Lakers Junior High in Utah County, we don't go to high school till we're sophomores.
And so back then kind of every freshman just played for their junior high.
And I was always gonna go to Mountain View.
That was I lived in Mountain View boundaries, but my dad actually was the sophomore coach at Orm, who he coached with a guy named Greg Shidey, who was actually my high school coach.
