So I think the situation around them is going to be much more difficult next season.
But in a weird way, I expect this hurricane to seem to be even better heading into next year.
So I think that's going to make for a really interesting path through the East as a general.
I think it's a combination of both, certainly.
I mean, listen...
They swept both, so it's easy to look back on it in hindsight and be like, man, those were cupcake matches.
But as we talked about right off the hop, Ottawa was like the third or fourth most likely team to come out of the East, even though they were the eighth seed and they were one of the best teams post-Olympics.
And then the Flyers under Rick Tockett snuck into the playoffs because of how good they were, especially defensively down the stretch.
And so Carolina made quick work of them, but I don't think they were necessarily as easy of opponents for them as it might have seemed afterwards.
I think the East final broke nicely for them, that they didn't have to play a Tampa Bay or even a Buffalo potentially.
And then Montreal, who has played so much hockey leading up to this point.
I think Nick Suzuki, this is going to be his 107th game this season, if you include the Olympics.
You can see they kind of just ran out of gas in that game four, had nothing left to offer.
So it lined up nicely for them, but I think they deserve a lot of credit for making those teams look as sort of limited as they were.
Yeah, two overtime games.
Yeah, unfortunately it's pretty much something you could say for nearly every team in the league, which is another top six center.
Most likely to help kind of take some of the pressure off Nick Suzuki.
I love what Phil Deneau has done, but realistically he should be more of a bottom six guy at this point in his career.
And then probably another top four defenseman.
Now Noah Dobson hurt his hand right before the end of the regular season, has been limited, missed a lot of that round one series against Tampa.
