They say that he's just a game-changing defender.

And I remember I interviewed with the Tampa Bay Rays years ago, and Eric Neander's front office there, I asked him why he signed Kevin Kiermaier, who was more of a defensive kind of, you know, first certainly glove guy, base runner, but not much of a hitter comparatively.
And he said, never will defense be undervalued again.
A player like Kevin Kiermaier deserves what he's able to do in changing the game by preventing runs.
