Now, in the last century and a half, thanks to modern medicine
Antibiotics, antivirals, vaccination, sanitation, surgery, modern medicine, and better food security, our outlook has been completely transformed.
So the average life expectancy in high-income countries is now 78 years.

In Ireland, they would have an expected life expectancy of 84 years, it would have sounded like science fiction to them.
