Where other folks might do a much more surface search, I'm going deep.
I'm going all the way in.
And that's an ADHD thing for sure, that hyper-focus.
That is a big part of the ADHD brain.
Oh, yeah.
How much dopamine is that driving into your body, right?
That's amazing.
Yeah, that's totally true.
You know, I think one of the things that people don't know is that sort of below the hood, people with ADHD are naturally understimulated.
So they're lacking in a baseline level of dopamine and norepinephrine.
And I'm obviously oversimplifying here, but that's sort of the gist.
Novel locations, stimuli, activities all cause a surge in that baseline dopamine, which in turn activates the pleasure centers of the brain, which again makes us much more engaged in the novelty that brings joy, increases attention, and generates energy for folks who have ADHD.
You know, with caveats, yeah.
I mean, I think travel is such a great source of joy for so many, but I think anxiety drives people away from it.
So that's definitely why it's important to have this conversation.
Well, time blindness is sort of this concept of people having an inability to estimate how long something's going to take or to plan for time on the clock.
So, okay, I've got something at three o'clock today, so I need to be ready by such and such a time.
Or when I'm engaged in an activity that I could be hyper-focused and lose track of time.
So for today's recording, I had three alarms set.
One to make sure I had my stuff open, two to make sure that I had all my mics and stuff set up for your producer more than 20 minutes in advance, and one for five minutes before because I was set up so I could distract.
