And the idea is, you know, normally you think, oh, I should brush from the out in, but you want to go from the inside out. And the idea is twofold. By dry brushing, number one, you are going to exfoliate your skin. One of the reasons why our skin gets drier and flakier is that as we get older and rougher in texture is because we get a buildup of dead skin cells.
When we're younger, when we're in our teens, in our 20s, our skin cells turn over once every six to eight weeks. So once it gets formed in the deeper layer of skin, it takes six to eight weeks to come to the surface and eventually slough off. As we get older, that process takes longer. It takes eight weeks, 10 weeks, 12 weeks.

And we get this buildup of aged old cells that aren't exfoliating, that aren't basically getting removed. So the act of exfoliation will actually send a cellular signal to the deeper skin layers to start turning over more quickly.

And so whenever you exfoliate your skin, whether you use, let's say a gentle scrub on your face, whether you do a mild chemical peel, or whether you dry brush your arms, legs, and your back, you're going to be removing that upper layer of dead skin.

Not only is it going to feel smoother, but it's also going to stimulate your skin to turn over more quickly, which is in and of itself going to make your skin act and feel and look more youthful. On top of that, once again, you're going to feel the difference in your skin and feel as if your skin has been cleaned. Actually, the Koreans are the best with this. They don't just dry brush.

We've got these washcloths. I don't know if you've ever been to a Korean spa, but we have these washcloths that literally feel like sandpaper. You go to these spas, they will literally exfoliate your skin from the top all the way down, obviously staying away from your genitals, and you will feel like you are a bloody mess afterwards.

absolutely like as soft as a baby's bottom and so it's the same idea so the first thing is that you know with dry brushing you are going to get that exfoliation of the skin that's great for your skin overall and for anti-aging but the second benefit and the reason why you want to go from out in and so you're basically going in the direction of lymphatics and you're you're getting rid of excess fluid that helps your body then to clear it out naturally through your peeing and your pooping mechanisms

It's outside in. You want to basically dry brush towards the center of your body. That's towards the lymphatics. You're pushing that fluid out. You're going to feel less swollen afterwards. And it is a bit of a detoxifying thing. So multiple benefits with dry brushing.
