Toddlers do a lot of bizarre things and parents wonder if they're normal.
And kids will literally bang their head or hit their head when they're feeling frustrated.
We do it virtually.
They do it in real life.
They will also do some other interesting things.
Sometimes they'll
body rock.
Sometimes they'll pick their belly buttons.
Like they do some, you know, kind of like we might bite our nails.
They can do that as well.
These are all kind of bizarre behaviors that are a form of self-calming, which seems in the moment like, oh my gosh, is my kid going to hurt themselves?
And most of the time they don't unless it's accidental.
So
You just have to be aware that this does end at some point.
So if these behaviors continue, that's when you might want to check in.
And if there are other behaviors that go along with these kind of bizarro behaviors, you want to check in with your pediatrician.
you put them in a safe place.
I mean, the reality is they are using their bodies to kind of let go of all that emotion.
And so as long as they're doing it in a safe place where they're not gonna hurt themselves, it's fine to let them do that.
And some kids will do that when they're winding down at night and they'll bang their heads in their crib or something, and you'll see it on the monitor.
