And um w we have been so consistently grounded in a developmental and humanistic and family centered approach.
And that started way back in my career because I think um I don't have an immediate family member on the spectrum or with any neurodevelopmental conditions.
But I had that experience
Of almost like a not twenty-four-seven twelve months a year, but twenty-four-seven, two months a year experience.
Right for the safety and happiness.
Um and I I had wonderful mentors in my career.
As a matter of fact, since you're an SLP, I mean, some of my mentors became important leaders in the profession um in Asha.
Presidents of Asha, Dr.
David Yoder, um, Dr.
David Luterman, the first
uh person to have truly family centered work for him.
It was with hearing impaired and deaf children.
So yeah.
Yeah.
And and well Uniquely Human came about and and just to let your listeners know it's uh has been published in two editions.
The first edition was twenty fifteen and then the updated edition, uh and expanded edition as well was twenty twenty two.
And the whole purpose of the book was to tell stories.
Um most of my work
Prior to publishing Uniquely Human was peer reviewed academic journals, chapters in quote unquote scholarly volumes.
