Uh yeah, by training I am a speech language pathologist, but that actually came out of an undergraduate degree in psycholinguistics.

Oh.

Um because I was at a university that didn't have special ed or speech path.

But I had been working at summer camps um for people with disabilities.

Um and the full range, adults, children, all kinds of diagnoses.

I'm talking about

late sixties starting or at least into the seventies.

And so I had these kind of two parallel tracks, starting first in almost like a surrogate parent role as a camp counselor,

And these were residential summer camps.

So I was responsible for the lives of of children and adults along with all my colleagues.

And then I was so taken by that I went ahead and um figured out how to make psycholinguistics more focused on people with disabilities.

And then went off for my masters and doctorate in communication disorders.

And got focused on autism specifically very early on.

I actually did my master's thesis and doctoral dissertation on autism.

Um and uh

Lots happa has happened since.

Yeah.

Well the one thing that I'm very proud of in the work that I've done with colleagues is you could

go way back.
