Providence, as George Washington, he never liked to say God.
He always liked to say Providence with a capital T, to smile on us because we have stood for the utmost in human dignity at a real juncture in American history, in world history, in human history.
1776 is a moment in human history that we should cherish, not just we Americans, because it's a breakthrough.
Well, and you know, there are people even then who interpreted the words of the Declaration narrowly as saying just not that all men are created equal, which is what it actually says, but that American Englishmen are the equivalent of English Englishmen, you know, because in some ways the revolution was about American colonists saying, you're not going to take away our rights as Englishmen.

north american colonies and their british empire which they now had was expanded because of the outrageous success of the war against the french and they had to do something to get the colonies to in some way contribute to the general sort of operating funds of the empire what they did was extremely clumsy i think it could have it could possibly somebody should write a book about this that i haven't but it could have been done in a better way even without uh
the connectivity that we have today, even with an ocean separating.
But it wasn't done in a skillful way.
