So it was an online Viva.
And I remember they went off to deliberate.
And when they came back on the call, he says, well, we've great news for you, Dr. Brian Penny.
And I remember being so surprised just that the pride, I think it was pride.
I felt joy.
I felt and I was a big high.
And it was just it was an incredible moment, I have to say.
The hedonic treadmill is when, so hedonism is like chasing pleasure all the time.
So it's related to that.
So if you're constantly chasing pleasure, like you have the pleasure,
then it goes to pain.
You don't like the pain so you're going to chase more pleasure.
So the hedonic treadmill is usually related to buying stuff, materialistic kind of pursuits, but it can be sex addiction, it could be on the hedonic treadmill chasing pleasure from sex and different things and drugs I suppose as well.
But a lot of the time it's like you're trying to buy yourself into happiness.
But
Really, there's a hole in your soul.
There's probably abandonment issues, rejection, a lack of connection, a lack of inner peace.
But you're trying to fill that void with stuff and pleasure and new stuff.
So you're constantly chasing, chasing, chasing, striving for happiness when you're not going to find it on that road.
People often think of rewards as getting something.
