If you said, hey, we have to find out how to live with like, you know, 13 percent less energy and we've got five years to sort it out and prices will climb to give us.
That's fine.

We'll sort it out.
But it's the pace of change that gets you, right?
And so if we just slam into this and oil or gasoline suddenly goes from 5 to 15 or whatever it's going to do suddenly, that's where the shock happens.
That's where the damage happens.
That's where the uncontrolled things happen.
And this is why I research and I look at neither of these two things independently.
I always look at energy and the economy.
And so here's what we have to understand.
The United States in 1973 had some debt.
not $39 trillion of debt, right?
With a structural deficit of two to 3 trillion per year for the next 10 years, right?
Just by law, nothing we can do about that.
It's all baked in the cake.
With derivatives numbering one to two quadrillion, depending on how you count these things, nobody knows what they are.
Don't ask me.
But literally nobody understands how things operate.
But what they do is they provide insurance, Tucker, in a moment when you don't really need it.
