But that's because we allowed, you know, we had the great financial crisis.
And they're like, oh, that was a terrible idea.
We had all these collateralized debt obligations and all that stuff.
We shouldn't have done that.
So learned our lesson.
Today, derivatives exactly like that are still saturated through the market.
They're twice as large as they were back then.
No lessons learned, except they did write some laws that if the banks get in trouble, they're going to take your bank account to help make them whole again.
They did write some laws, so they got that done.
Well, it has a lot.
So Japan is going to have to sell those treasuries just to begin defending its currency because they're going to need to, that would be part one.
But part two is Japan imports 100% of its hydrocarbons.
It has no domestic reserves.
So as the price of oil goes up and oil products goes up,
They're going to have to buy those at higher and higher and higher yen costs.
So the poor people of Japan are getting hit with a double whammy, right?
First, their yen is weakening.
That imports inflation.
Second, when they have to buy oil that's also going up in price, it's with a weaker currency.
So they're going to be feeling it sort of at a 2x rate of speed.
