I'm Chris Turner, a squat middle-aged man from Edinburgh who doesn't really know how he ended up on this stage and I'll talk more about that later on.
Buzz, an absolute delight to be here.
So...
When we're talking about insistence, we want to talk about insistence in a slightly different way.
And most of us in this room will be through a system which judges us on our ability to assimilate and regurgitate knowledge.
That's where you pass exams.
And we pass exams on our own.
We don't pass exams working with other people.
And the personal qualities that are required to pass exams are, and I don't mean this in a derogatory way, but they're selfish.
They're about us.
being disciplined, sitting in rooms, studying, forcing stuff in our heads, holding a whole bunch of stuff in our heads, and then going into an example and sitting down and having all the answers.
And for those of us that are doctors in this room,
We will have got to wherever we are in our careers now through our ability to establish credibility by passing exams.
But there's a huge problem here.
And the problem is this.
I don't, I'm an emergency medicine consultant.
I don't get results on my own.
I never get results on my own.
I get results with other people.
I can only achieve things with other people.
