Those three banks, Anglo Irish, Irish Nationwide and Bank of Ireland and Anglic AIB, well AIB more than Bank of Ireland, blew up.
So they needed a new model and exactly what you said there is what happened.
What happens in 2009 is that
Housing as a policy is taken away from the Department of Housing and it's given to the Department of Finance via NAMA.
And what they did was that they brought their FDI hammer
to the housing nail.
And it's like, how do we solve problems here?
FDI.
So we actually see this in real time in our lifetimes play out.
We've seen this change in the operational logic.
The worst thing ever was finance getting control of housing policy.
That's the department of finance because there are like, when I talk about this kind of compador middleman mentality, it's not all through the state.
But it is most certainly concentrated in two or three key departmental or three-staking departments.
And basically finance and the department of the Taoiseach, where that is just, it is just, it's ridden through it and has been for just the last 100 years.
So they brought, pardon me, they, as you said, they said, how do we solve housing?
