We feel a deep sense of purpose when we feel like the things we do are connected to things that are larger than the self.
I remember interviewing Yumi Kendall, who's this cellist for the Philadelphia Symphony, one of the great cellists and a friend of mine.
I was like, man, being a musician is hard.
Make a lot of money, work all the time.
It's super competitive.
There was sexism in the field and so forth.
