So they started to work.
with a local pharmaceutical company and they were able to make creatine, put it, excuse me, put it in these everness and tablets, which is the everness is not important, but it was what the first form.
And so you could drop in the creatine into some water and you could drink it.
And it was a way to then get more creatine into the body.
And this led to
Linford Christie winning the hundred meter dash in the Olympics that year.
And afterwards, when he was being interviewed, he's talked about creatine and guess what happened?
Like the world exploded with interests.
Like every athlete was like, I have to get my hands on this stuff.
And so just in the U S alone, the 1993 Barcelona Olympics, it was like 92 or 93, but within a couple of years, by 1995, uh,
It was already a $50 million market in the United States.
And this is right around the time where I started to do my first research trial looking at whether or not, because we didn't really even know exactly how it worked.
So we thought people will gain some weight when they take creatine because it's a hydrophilic water loving molecule.
And it means when it gets pulled into cells and when it gets pulled into cells, it pulls water with it.
And so your cells become more hydrated.
And so the question that we were looking at is, hey, is this really like an energetic benefit?
Is it contributing to improve energy or is it just a limb weight effect?
So imagine if you're lifting weights, for example, and you have a fuller muscles, that's going to be able to create more of a lever for lifting weights.
And so maybe you're only becoming stronger because of the hydration effect, right?
And that's what we tested.
