So I'm glad you asked that because my lab literally just wrote a paper over the weekend.
We do these paper in a day retreats where we all get together and we write chunks of a paper together.
And we looked at how men's behavior and well-being and hormones change when they have either a son or a daughter.
So we found that when men have daughters, and this is from our longitudinal sample, they show more of a drop in testosterone across the transition to that parenthood.
And they also spend less time caring for their babies and
And they report more parenting stress and worse bonding.
So it's kind of bad news for girls, actually.
And we need to figure out what modulates that and, you know, how to offset it.
But it suggests that when men are expecting girls, they might be in need of some additional coaching and preparation to figure out how they can show up as effective parents.
So we don't know because there haven't been enough studies of this.
I've looked at this a little bit in our data.
But you're cutting your sample in half.
So if you already have an underpowered sample, then you're losing your ability to pick up on it.
