So where are you gonna find someone to cast with semi-divine, semi-swan pedigree?
It's not gonna be an easy one.
Anyhow, it's clear from the trailers and what we know that the actress Lupita Nyong'o has been cast as Helen and indeed as Helen's twin sister, Clytemnestra.
We can come back to why she's interesting.
Lupita Nyong'o is of Kenyan extraction, sub-Saharan, and therefore
clearly different from the majority of the rest of the castings in the film.
Most people in the film are white.
They're mostly American.
But Helen, in and among them, is a pointedly different looking figure.
Now, we could say that's not that interesting.
There is no realistic cast to call upon.
And if the decision is made that we'll have a black actor as Helen, so be it.
And I've got a lot of sympathy with that view.
It's not that interesting.
