So I define intimacy as into me see.
You're able to see into the other person.
And for someone who's neurodiverse, it's hard to describe your experience and really have the language to let someone then see into your experience.
And so that becomes a barrier to intimacy because if I'm trying to understand you and be understood by you.
But one half of this relationship
struggles with that kind of intimacy or language.
Then the the struggle goes both ways at that point.
So the other thing that I see then is a withholding.
It can feel like someone, especially if there's an undiagnosed neurodiverse situation, it can feel like someone is withholding or someone is intentional.
in how they're relating to you.
Um or lack thereof for that matter.
And so then people build up resentment, you know?
Well you're not gonna say I love you, I'm not gonna say I love you.
Right?
You're not gonna initiate intimacy, I'm not gonna initiate intimacy.
You don't seem to care if we go on a date, I don't care if we go on a date then.
I'm gonna go spend time with my my girlfriends or my guy friends or or whatever.
And so
That's part of the work that I do with couples is to show that like again this this isn't intentional then.
And that for someone who's neurodiverse, maybe they want intimacy, but they don't know how to initiate it.
