that we said how we work together as a team and what are our positions around civility.

We wanted to put a stake in the ground and say, this is really important to us.

And so that position statement also serves as a tool to help guide

not just about the operating room, but also about how we preoperatively, postoperatively, and work together within those specialties.

AORN has been a leader in this work around workplace civility, and that has frankly been out of necessity.

As you said, a lot of your work is in and around the perioperative space.

Right.

That has been because historically that's been where organizations have seen incivil behavior exhibited at higher rates than in other parts of the hospital.

I don't love saying that out loud because that's my specialty, but I also am proud of the work that AORN has done to ensure this is being addressed properly.

worked on and that we're building the profession based off of what we expect for a workplace environment.

I love the broad impact that I am able to have through AORN.

It's an extraordinary platform to be able to look across the country at a minimum, but we also have some impact globally on practice.

And this is one thing that I know is already having a tremendous positive impact

relationship to the health of our nation.

And so as we impact nurses and how they practice day to day, it equates to positive patient outcomes.

And so I love that ability to really see broadly

across practice trends to understand how does the profession overall need to be supported, need to be guided.

And I'm really, really enjoying that component of my role.
