I mean, if you wanna make arguments about saturated fat and polyunsaturated fats and LDLs and some of the scientific relationships, you can find some pretty good data, but to translate that into a number like 10% of calories
jokingly made the suggestion that it's okay to have one person eating 45 grams and somebody else is unhealthy at 16.
That makes no biochemical sense.
You can't come up with a mechanism to make that make sense.
So it's just a really bad number.
If saturated fat is really toxic, then they should come up with a number.
And then it becomes a testable hypothesis.
If somebody says, well,
25 grams of saturated fat is going to kill you.
Well, that's testable.
But as long as it's percentage of calories, then it's a vague number and it's not really ever testable.
And we both run multiple studies, our random control trials, with that kind of modeling, that net 10%.
I keep thinking about the pyramid, though, and people want to micromanage what each of those pictures look like.
And so, okay, that ribeye is a large picture, but right next to it is a whole turkey.
I don't know of anybody.
Or chicken.
I don't know that anybody has ever recommended people should sit down and have a whole chicken.
And down at the bottom of the pyramid is a whole bunch of bananas.
I don't know that anybody has ever recommended you should eat four bananas per day.
Or at the top is a whole bunch of carrots.
