But at the point where Odysseus has landed on Ithaca, he is still kind of about to make his way back.

So again, we've got these two, these father and son stories happening in parallel.

They do.

So once Telemachus manages to get through that ambush, he survives, he's okay, he first goes to Eumaeus' hut.

And who should be visiting there but the old beggar.

So Odysseus at this point is in Eumaeus' hut.

Telemachus comes in and we've got this amazing moment where the father, for the first time in 20 years, gazes on his son again.

And he does reveal himself to Telemachus at this point, makes sure that he's got Telemachus on side.

He's now sort of slowly building up his allies.

This is where the coup begins.

Yeah.

Absolutely.

And certainly in Odysseus' mind, it's his rightful kingdom, right?

We could argue about whether actually having been absent for 20 years it is anymore, but in his mind it certainly is.

So yeah, what we've got is this kind of major thorn in Odysseus' side

which are these hundred or so men who are kind of sitting in his palace, eating all of his food, making their way through all of his livestock, impoverishing the palace, drinking his wine, behaving really, really badly and loutishly, and also kind of trying to force Penelope, his wife,

to basically admit that Odysseus has died and that she's going to take a new husband and that that husband will be the king of Ithaca.

So for Odysseus, this is a massive threat and he's got to make sure that he gets there in time before Penelope basically gives up the ghost and says, OK, I'm going to choose one of you.

Yeah, well, we do get some of them who kind of really stick out and some of them are given sort of characterisation.

So, yes, there are a lot of them, but one of them above all, I think, probably is the leader and that's Antinous.
