And then once he reaches the palace there, he's kind of disguised as a beggar.
He comes in.
He is very badly treated by the suitors who are not pleased to see an old beggar kicking around the palace.
In fact, they already have an old beggar at the palace who also doesn't want to have a rival.
And so they get into a bit of a scuffle.
Yeah.
Well, again, what he's doing is he's sort of closing the circle of where he's trying to get to, which is ultimately getting into the palace and getting to Penelope.
So he's just inching closer and closer to his goal.
It is obviously quite kind of tactically quite dangerous because he is being seen as kind of the very bottom rung of society.
He gets things thrown at him.
As I say, he ends up kind of having this scuffle with the other beggar whose name is Eros.
So it's all not very dignified for Odysseus.
But what kind of ends up happening is that then, you know, they step in and say, well, this isn't OK.
And he ends up being drawn into that circle, that inner circle of the Ithacan palace.
And that is the point where then Penelope orders that he has a bath by Eurycleia, the old nursemaid.
This is where he's recognised.
And this is a moment which is so fascinating because he is running out of control in terms of his ability to control the recognition.
Because all of the other ones, he was the one who said, you know, I'm Odysseus, revealing himself.
But at this point where he has a foot bath and Eurycleia, the old enslaved nurse, washes his feet.
And she sees a scar on his leg that she recognises from the young Odysseus that he had in a boar hunting accident when he was a boy.
