I think the scrubbing of the floors of the palace is very symbolic of that.

Eurycleia comes running up and says, Odysseus is home.
You should be so overjoyed.
And she says, well, I've got to make sure.
And she comes down and she gives Odysseus a test of her own.
So we've had already kind of the contest of the bow, but now she's got her own little test to make sure that this really is Odysseus.
Well, the test is around their marital bed.
So the story is that Odysseus, before he went to Troy, made a bed for the husband and wife in an olive tree that grew through the palace of Ithaca and that he hollowed out part of the trunk and made a bed for them.
And what Penelope does is that she says to Odysseus, well, you know, we've made up a bed for you and moved the bed out of my room for you.
And he is outraged and he says, who moved my bed?
Now, obviously, this is a symbol of
of the fact that penelope might have been unfaithful because if that bed that he made for them for their marital union could have been moved maybe she's been unfaithful and she realizes at the point where he gets outraged that the bed could have been moved and he tells the story of the olive tree she realizes it's him i don't really feel he's got a leg to stand on on that is that left um ambiguous is that not revealed whether she was faithful or not or is
