He's this kind of loony farmer.

And Palamedes puts the baby in front of the plough.

And of course, Odysseus steers his plough around the baby.

And so Palamedes has proven that Odysseus is not mad and he can go to Troy.

There isn't.

No.

So there's no sense of him kind of knowing that this is going to be a long voyage home.

So when he goes to Troy, I don't think anyone expects that it's going to be a 10 year war.

And then, you know, similarly, I don't think anyone expects he's going to take 10 years to get back home again.

So, no, this is just the start of a long and winding voyage.

He does get other prophecies later in the story about where he's going next.

Right.

But not right now.

Yeah, I mean, it's easy to think of Odysseus as only the hero of the Odyssey, because that's got his name stamped right out there on the front.

But actually, he has quite a lot to do in the Iliad.

Now, we've been talking about the Iliad and mentioning this name.

But for those who aren't familiar, that is the other epic poem ascribed to Homer in antiquity, the epic of the Trojan War, although it actually only tells quite a small bit of the Trojan War.

And what we're looking at in terms of these kind of epics that I mentioned, these songs that tell the stories of the Trojan War,

There are actually a lot of other ones as well.

So yes, we've got the Iliad and we've got Odysseus in the Iliad.
