And I was a real stickler for it.
I'm like, well what's going on here?
Deep dived into that.
Um and then fell more and more in love with it because
Yeah, it's just so it's just so s uh sticky and illogical, yet the outcomes can be so good.
So for me I was I I wanted to be able after all this training and eating black beans, I wanted to make a difference, right?
I know that sounds really cheesy, but I really wanted to put time into an area where I could see good gains.
And that's O C D because it it does
have good outcomes with specific interventions.
So it was a client and um there's a kind of method in the madness and I was quite sort of sucked into that and then I learnt more and more about it.
And the fact that people actually didn't like it, a lot of people saw it
like eating disorders in a way that it's like, oh, it's very stark sort of like you know.
can be annoying, you know, all of those types of things.
So
Essentially, it's intrusive thoughts, images, impulses that pop into a person's head, and then they feel completely like stressed out, distressed, anxious about it.
So then they engage in kind of multiple or repetitive behaviors, and that can be behaviors outside the body, so you know, compulsive checking, tapping, whatever, um, or mental compulsions like mentally rehearsing how.
And then after they do that, there's a feeling that everything's okay, there's a short term sense of relief until you get the next interest of thought.
And then it gets slightly more complicated in that the thoughts that people have, yes, they're usually against a moral theme and they're really scary, et cetera, et cetera.
But the vast majority of the general population also have, you know, the same content uh in terms of intrusive thought.
So the difference between OCD and non-OCD is not so much content, although some people argue that point.
