a big epic war for twenty odd years and been fought in the way it was fought because both sides, you know, the the equality was definitely there.
I think they do.
They must.
And and and I think it's interesting because what happens is is the war
um is as a long war as we've said, but it's sort of fought in phases and it's fought it around Sicily, going clockwise.
So if you start from Messina and then you go down towards Syracuse and then you come along the south shore and then you go across and up to the last battle on the northwest.
And if we if we think about it that way, they have they've crossed over, they've got the West, they've got all these these ally
resources now and they basically want m blood, but they also want wealth.
And Sicily is home to a lot of very prosperous, very sophisticated cities.
And that's really where we see the beginnings of of some of the um the key battles.
We have a couple of key land battles that uh focus on prosperous cities, and then we we have the beginnings of big naval battles as well.

One of the valley of the temples there is so incredibly well preserved, isn't it?
So people, yeah, may have seen that or gone.
And it is one of the big moments early in the war.
Um it for two reasons.
I think that it's depicted as such by our key sources.
One is that it's a big city, big walled city.
An old historic rival of Syracuse, but also occupied at this point by the Carthaginians.
