The Romans lose another sea battle off of the city of Trapani today, or Drapanum, as it's called.
And that's on the northwest coast.
They've lost Panormus.
The Carthaginians have lost Panormus.
The Romans have taken it.
And again, the Carthaginians are not succeeding very well at land or at sea.
So the Roman land forces have taken a lot of the territory in the north.
And the sea forces muster again to raise another fleet, both sides to fight this battle.
The um Roman consul who's leading the fleet is Tiberius Claudius Pulcher.
He's a famous Roman uh consul from an old Roman family.
And the um the way that this story is told, it really focuses on this character.
It focuses on his arrogance, it focuses on his um dis sort of disdain for the traditions of Roman warfare.
And we can always tell when our Roman sources
Are doing that, something bad has happened.
The Carthaginians have raised another fleet, and this fight is going on.
They, they, if they lose Drapanum, Drapanum is another important port.
It would just be really the end of the story.
