And so I think that's a big difference and um in the way that we see the two of them.
They they have many similar messages.
They rule in similar ways, but they're projecting themselves slightly differently.

So there is um the the Kushans, the the the area of Bac um Afghanistan that was once the old Achaemenid Satrapy of Bactria that becomes the Hellenistic kingdom of Bactri that is then ruled by the Parthians as well and then eventually um it is ruled in collaboration with local kings by the Parthians who are called the Kushans.

Are uh a dynasty who rule the old kingdom of Afghanistan, very much connected to groups who have been moving across the steppes from China.
And the um we see in the third century quite a lot of dynastic and transitional change across the whole of the ancient world.
So from the Roman Empire all the way to China, and the Kushan period.
Shifts in the third century are connected to, we think, the rule of Shapur or Ardashir, where we're getting not necessarily independent Kushan kings, but what are called Kushano-Sasanian kings.
And they start to mint coins there that look almost identical to Sasanian coins.
And so there seems to be a merging of power, and that tells us that.
That the um the Sasanians really had perhaps imposed uh uh a more direct impact on the Kushans.
And we get what are called Kushanoshas or Kushan-shas.
And those are Kushan kings who are parts.
Yeah, the Kushan Shas.
