That means on the initial examining of the body, looking at the gross findings, meaning the findings that you can see pretty largely, you're able to make an early determination of what likely causes of death are.
However,
The final autopsy is not able to be presented until you've done everything, including toxicology, seeing if there are any drugs, looking for evidence on the most microscopic of levels.
Sometimes testing will take weeks or months before you can give the final.
And so you'll note that when Lindsey Graham passed away, they gave us a preliminary autopsy report.
The medical examiner did from D.C.
really quickly, within 24 hours, I believe.
And usually within 24, 48 hours, they can give you something preliminary.
And when there's something obvious, like with what Lindsey Graham had, an aortic dissection, that huge artery, the largest artery in your body, they're able to say, but still they're going to look at toxicology.
And so sometime down the road, we'll get a final result.
So we're getting what's preliminary, but what it means is that results could change or new information could add to the evidence to help to really understand the true cause of death in Nolan Wells.
Go ahead.
I can only speculate.
However, we're getting, from my understanding, the independent autopsy, meaning already the people who had the body first, the Mississippi medical examiners, they've already had weeks, at least since July 6th.
And so...
in a standard situation, they already would have had a preliminary result.
And so while I don't know the facts of why it's taking so long, I can only imagine that there's something outside of the medical examiner's control because very likely early on, they have something preliminary.
And so be it political, legal reasons, having something to hide, I don't know.
I can only speculate.
I can say it's not normal for a preliminary result not to be back after, what, two weeks.
