Therefore, perhaps...
a 10 to 12 week study, you don't expect to show changes in lean body mass between groups.
DEXA is not sensitive enough.
And not only that, if you relate that to say the general population, sarcopenia is a 4% change per decade.
if you want that study to be relevant, you're gonna need to do it for 20 years.
And so I think that there's an ability to, if we look at these questions, which I think you're very good at challenging and thinking, I mean, you were a journalist, and I guess you still are a journalist.
You still are a health journalist.
So the question isn't, so when we see these studies and you see these experts or consumer reports saying, but it didn't show any change,
Well, you're right.
What were you expecting?
And also protein isn't just for lean body mass, right?
It's for thermogenesis.
It's for satiety.
It's for rebuild and repair your body completely regenerates, repairs itself, renews itself.
It's a different body four times a year.
We become less efficient at being able to repair and go through protein turnover.
And so it just is interesting when you see in the literature, and again, various journalists say, oh, we shouldn't be eating such a high-protein diet, and not asking the question of, well, what changes do you expect to see?
And then the next question is, tell me the negative consequences.
I can tell you the negative consequences of carbohydrates.
Fatty acids, maybe not so much.
