And so in the same way that, you know, I think a lot of birth education is just to normalize birthing, a lot of death education is just to normalize dying.
Right?
Yeah, it's quite normal that you probably will stop eating.
It's quite normal that you'll make these breath sounds.
That's not painful.
That's not scary.
That's just, you know, the fluid in your lungs.
It's quite normal that...
you know, your person might rally before the end and all of a sudden remember their name and want to talk to you.
That usually is a sign that they're dying.
So all of these kind of mysterious things are actually just really normal facts of dying, and I think we used to be, we used to have that knowledge because we used to see dying people more.
We don't do that as much because we hide aging and dying people away.
Yeah.
Right, um, there's a statistic that 70, well, well over 70% of Australians die in institutions.
But very few people actually want to do that, right, most people want to die at home.
Um, but we just usually die away from our families.
And I think that's quite a sadness, not just for the dying person, but also for everyone who doesn't get to experience death.
I was never, I never kind of set out to be a deaf person.
Um, although on reflection, thinking about it now, I did have a lot of, you know, friends die in high school.
Like I had two or three of my good friends die when I was in high school of, of leukemia, of childhood cancer.
