It's kind of a weird thing to say, but I think people should get pets so that their kids experience death.
Get a goldfish, start small.
But we're not very good at death because we don't practice.
And you can't get good at something if you don't practice.
Yeah, I mean, reflecting, like, when is the last time you saw somebody die from natural causes on TV?
Like, hardly ever.
We did see death all the time.
Like, you know, true crime podcasts going into gory details and CSI and bones and murder mysteries and Call of Duty and vampires.
And, like, you know, there's death everywhere.
But it's always kind of extraordinary death.
Yes.
Right, it's always supernatural or violent, and so our consumption of it is always kind of voyeuristic, right, it's like, oh, the most exciting, sexy kinds of death.
And it's never like, this is an 85-year-old who's just slowly declining, right, it's never just like how we're actually probably gonna die.
And what that does is produce fear.
